ASCENT TO MT SIPAN AND MT NEMRUT 2024

This time our group had an important and special climbs, to #Sipan and #Nemrut. For years, we have shown thousands of our guests the breathtaking view of Mount Sipan with Lake Van, and this time it was their turn to enjoy Van from Mt Sipan. The ascent of Sipan is not easy, as we have seen with our team of experienced mountaineers, but the feelings and desire that were present in the ascent of Sipan helped us, and with our entire team we reached one of the 5 highest peaks of the Armenian highlands, Mt Sipan with a height of 4058 meters. The mountain shares with us the magnificent views of Lake Van with Ktuts and Lim islands, as well as sharing with us the view of Lake Nazik, one of the great lakes of the Armenian Highlands. We managed to see both the unforgettable sunrise and the sunset of Lake Van. To reach the top of Sipan, we hiked at a relative height of about 1700 meters and a total of about 16 km. Sipan was multi-layered, interesting and impressive, where we will return many more times.
And this was not all. In Hamshen Tour we like to combine history and mountain climbing, so we also sailed to Aghtamar Island of Van to see the St. Khach Church, one of the masterpieces of Armenian architecture, we had a small climb to the highest point of Aghtamar Island, High Rock, and we also had time to swim in Lake Van. We also saw the wonderful Berkri waterfall, River Araks, Lake Tsovakn Hyusiso, passed through the slopes of Mount Ararat, visited the impressive salt mines of Koghb and many other places.
Of course, it is necessary to tell separately about the rise of Nemrut during our visit. Nemrut-Sarakn or Nemrut of Van is a mountain with a height of 2940 meters, whose crater is a real paradise with rich vegetation and crater lakes, including the largest crater lake in the Armenian highlands. From the beautiful trail leading to the top of Nemrut, the views are cosmic, with Lake Van on one side and the multi-colored crater lakes of Nemrut on the other.
We will remember this trip to Sipan and Nemrut of Van for a long time because it was fantastic.
We will continue the program of the 5 highest peaks of the Armenian highlands, of which we have already done Mt Masis-Ararat, Mt Aragats, Mt Sipan and will definitely repeat it, and in the near future we plan to climb Jilo and Sabalan as well.
We will continue discovering Western Armenia: from canyons to peaks, from churches to fortresses, rivers, lakes, every corner.
