SMBATABERD FORTRESS AND TSAKHATS KAR MONASTERY (HIKING)

We start our extremely impressive hike to the mighty Smbataberd and the mysterious Tsakhats Kar Monastery from the village Artabyunk of Vayots Dzor Province. First, we visit the Tsakhats Kar Monastery, one of the masterpieces of medieval church construction, and after fully exploring it, we continue our hike to the Fortress Smbataberd, from where the St Nshan and Zorats monasteries of Yeghegis can be seen. Smbataberd is one of the well-preserved and large fortresses of Armenia. Moreover, the views from the fortress to the monastery and from the monastery to the fortress are also beautiful. This trip is part of Hamshen Tour's special project "Armenian Fortresses and Castles".

Hike distance is 16 km (round trip). You must have hiking shoes and hiking clothes.
