MT SABALAN AND TABRIZ
Mount Sabalan is one of the three highest peaks in Iran and is regarded by a number of specialists as the second-highest summit of the Armenian Highlands after Mount Ararat. Rising to 4,811 metres, this impressive mountain is famous for its crater lake at the summit, spectacular alpine landscapes, and unique mountain environment.

DETAILED PROGRAMME
DAY 1
Yerevan – Meghri – Tabriz
Dinner in Tabriz
Overnight in Tabriz
Sabalan is calling — and we are following that call.
We will depart from Yerevan and travel via Meghri to the Armenian-Iranian border. After crossing the border, we will continue towards Tabriz.
In the evening, we will enjoy dinner before checking into our hotel and resting in preparation for the mountain days ahead.
DAY 2
Tabriz – Shabil – Sabalan Base Camp
Overnight in tents
In the morning, we will leave Tabriz and travel to Shabil in Ardabil Province.
From Shabil, off-road vehicles will take us up to Sabalan Base Camp at an altitude of approximately 3,700 metres.
After settling in, depending on the condition of the group and weather conditions, we will take a short acclimatisation hike.
We will spend the evening at the camp preparing for the main day of our journey.
DAY 3
ASCENT OF MOUNT SABALAN — 4,811 M
Early in the morning, we will begin our ascent towards the summit of Mount Sabalan.
A long and impressive mountain route awaits us, eventually leading to the summit at an altitude of 4,811 metres.
At the top, we will see Sabalan’s famous crater lake and enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding highlands.
After spending the necessary time on the summit, we will begin our descent back to Base Camp and then continue by off-road vehicles down to Shabil.
Afterwards, we will transfer to Sarein or Shabil for an overnight stay at a hotel.

DAY 4
Sarein – Tabriz

Sightseeing tour of Tabriz
Dinner in Tabriz
Overnight in Tabriz
In the morning, we will travel to Tabriz, where we will explore the city’s historic sites and colourful atmosphere.
We will see some of Tabriz’s most famous landmarks, including the Blue Mosque and the Arg of Ali Shah.
We will also visit the historic Tabriz Bazaar, one of the largest covered bazaars in the world, and discover the city’s Armenian heritage, including one of its active Armenian churches.
We will conclude the day with a delicious dinner and spend the night in Tabriz.
DAY 5
Tabriz – Meghri – Yerevan

Return to Yerevan
In the morning, we will say goodbye to Tabriz and head towards the Armenian-Iranian border.
Travelling through the Aras Valley, we will reach Meghri and then continue towards Yerevan, bringing home the unforgettable feeling of having reached the summit of Sabalan and vivid memories of our journey through Iran.
