ST SHUSHANIK MONASTERY OF BAGARAN (HIKING)
Continuing our exclusive visits to border monuments, we will visit St. Shushanik, an extremely impressive, unique church. St Shushanik (also known as Shushanavank) near the village of Bagaran, Armavir region, on the direct bank of the Akhuryan River, is in the territory of the Republic of Armenia, but is close to the border. With a special permit we will have a unique opportunity to visit St. Shushanik, enjoying our beautiful hike, the Akhuryan River and the magnificent gorge of the river. On the other side of Akhuryan there is a once important political center, Bagaran, one of the Armenian capitals, which we will also see. St. Shushanik not only impresses with its very different location, unique architecture, but also with its interesting historical past. In addition to visiting St. Shushanik, we will see Koghbasar and the Araks valley, at the confluence with Akhuryan, Yervandashat, with its rich historical past, from an impressive point of view.
