AGHAVNAVANK, LAKE GOSH, GOSHAVANK (EASY HIKE)

We will discover the paradise-like landscapes of Tavush on an easy hike along forest trails, combining historical monuments with spectacular natural scenery.

Our route will begin with a hike to Aghavnavank. The trail, winding through dense forest and groves of yew trees, will lead us to this medieval monastery hidden deep in the woods. Aghavnavank dates back to the 12th–13th centuries and still preserves a unique atmosphere, especially when surrounded by the colours of the autumn forest.

We will then continue to the village of Gosh and visit Goshavank, one of the most important educational, spiritual and cultural centres of medieval Armenia. We will learn about the history and architecture of the monastery complex, as well as the heritage associated with Mkhitar Gosh.

The final part of the day will be spent in nature as we hike to Lake Gosh. Surrounded by forest, this small lake is especially beautiful in autumn, when the colourful trees, peaceful surroundings and mirror-like surface of the water create a serene and impressive setting.

The programme is designed for those who prefer an easy hike and is also suitable for beginners.

The total round-trip hiking distance is approximately 8 km, with a relative elevation gain of about 400 m. Hiking clothing and footwear are recommended. A food-court stop is planned.
